Not a photo manipulation or taxidermy....I sculpted both the chipmunk and pixie from polymer clay. The fur on the chipmunk is not a pelt, but recycled fur from coats and scarves, applied bit by bit in a layered fashion. The piece is close to life sized.
whenever i see your work, i always get awe-strucked by the details that is put into each piece. my favorites would be the ones with little creatures and the mythological ones--this is no exception. it is full of detail that i just cant even handle! and the photos that you take make them all the more pleasing to the eye ;o;
I dont see how I am supposed to learn how to sculpt when you keep posting images that really....SERIOUSLY... beg to be painted.
*sighs*
...I'm pretty sure that isn't a complaint, though *g*
I've been trying that fur technique of yours.. the bit by bit with glue? (though I hadn't thought of recycling old coats and things, MOST excellent!) and apart from using tweezers to hold my tuft's together in small 'clumps' <-- very technical, I know I've yet to find a manner to apply it that permits rapid layers. Am I doing something incorrectly?
...and before I hijack a thread best left for effusive praise for a truly excellent work, I'll shut up and type out what I do in a note and let you pick over what is wrong with it at your convenience

Just because perfection is impossible, doesnt mean I've given up attempting to achieve it.

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
