Third time 'is' a charm . . .
I started this piece and finished it over three months ago . . . then destroyed it and started again, twice, before I was satisfied with what I had achieved. I'm really pleased with it this time, and feel like I've accomplished my original vision....a feral hunter / savage warrior. She is dressed in tattered leather scraps, and carries a blow dart gun and darts which she is lacing with the poison from the skin secretions on the dart frog. Both the frog and fairy are original, one of a kind, sculptures, created in polymer clay and mixed media. She rests on a moss covered base. Don't you just love her wings? I think they are the best I've ever done, as far as being fairy like . . . similar to something you'd see Brian Froud sketch.
The piece is being auctioned off on ebay : [link]

I want to die like my grandmother died- asleep and at peace...not screaming like the passengers in her car.

Gorgeous! I'm absolutely amazed by the amount of detail you've managed to fit in into something so small!

Not being a sculptor myself, I find her hair rather fascinating (though the entire sculpt is extraordinary) Nay I ask what it was you used to make it or how it was done? My understanding of polymer (sp?) clay is limited, but I thought hair of this sort was heat sensitive?

Is it -possible- to needle hair into something like that? (again, the term 'needling' is the only one I could think of for what doll makers do to put hair on their creations, so if I'm incorrect here, forgive my ignorance, I'm a painter and my skill with other media is pretty much non-existent.)

I guess what I am trying to ask is 'How did you create the hair and stick it on, exactly?' I'm thinking that if it took three tries, it couldn't have been easy! :P

Again, wonderful work. Very inspirational :D

Just because perfection is impossible, doesn’t mean I've given up attempting to achieve it. :aww:
